La verticalit\u00e9 sans sommet<\/span><\/h2>\n

\u00a0Depuis plusieurs g\u00e9n\u00e9rations, ma famille passe ses vacances dans un petit village alpestre nich\u00e9 au pied d’une montagne majestueuse qui s’\u00e9l\u00e8ve \u00e0 plus de 4 350 m\u00e8tres d’altitude.<\/p>\n

Enfant, cette montagne exer\u00e7ait sur moi une fascination presque magn\u00e9tique. Sa verticalit\u00e9 semblait d\u00e9fier toute possibilit\u00e9 humaine. Je passais des heures \u00e0 lever les yeux vers son sommet, en me demandant quels \u00eatres pouvaient bien avoir la capacit\u00e9 de s\u2019y aventurer.<\/p>\n

Les anciens du village avaient toujours une histoire \u00e0 raconter sur l\u2019ascension de cette montagne. Les r\u00e9cits se transmettaient au temps des foins, dans la chaleur des journ\u00e9es d’\u00e9t\u00e9, ou le soir venu devant les chalets d’alpage. On parlait d’alpinistes disparus dans le brouillard ou emport\u00e9s par des chutes vertigineuses, de ceux qui s’\u00e9taient engag\u00e9s sur une mauvaise ar\u00eate avant de rebrousser chemin. On rappelait aussi, avec un profond respect, les noms de ceux auxquels on se fiait pour ouvrir la voie.<\/p>\n

De nos jours, trois grandes voies principales permettent de gravir cette montagne, en fonction des capacit\u00e9s de celles et ceux qui souhaitent s’y aventurer.<\/p>\n

La plus impressionnante est la face Nord. Une immense paroi de roche et de glace. C\u2019est la voie la plus directe, aussi appel\u00e9e la voie abrupte, r\u00e9serv\u00e9e aux alpinistes les plus exp\u00e9riment\u00e9.e.s. En \u00e9coutant certains r\u00e9cits, on a l\u2019impression que ces alpinistes y acc\u00e8dent sans effort, comme s\u2019ils retrouvaient une voie d\u00e9j\u00e0 connue.<\/p>\n

L\u2019ar\u00eate Est, escarp\u00e9e avec des d\u00e9nivel\u00e9s importants offre une voie rapide \u00e0 condition d\u2019en avoir la capacit\u00e9 et de rester constamment vigilant.\u00a0Le moindre rel\u00e2chement peut faire perdre le fil de l’ascension.<\/p>\n

Enfin l’ar\u00eate Sud, plus r\u00e9guli\u00e8re et mieux balis\u00e9e, demande toutefois davantage d’endurance et de patience. C’est celle qu’emprunte la plupart des cord\u00e9es.<\/p>\n

Quelle que soit la voie emprunt\u00e9e, une telle ascension exige une connaissance profonde de la montagne, une pr\u00e9paration adapt\u00e9e \u00e0 ses propres capacit\u00e9s et, surtout, l’accompagnement d’un guide exp\u00e9riment\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Combien, sans exp\u00e9rience de la haute montagne et insuffisamment \u00e9quip\u00e9s, se sont retrouv\u00e9s \u00e9gar\u00e9s dans les pierriers br\u00fblants, sans eau ni ravitaillement, \u00e0 des heures de marche de la cabane d’\u00e9tape ?<\/p>\n

Dans la tradition de la Grande Perfection, les enseignements d\u00e9crivent \u00e9galement plusieurs voies correspondant aux diff\u00e9rentes capacit\u00e9s des \u00eatres, souvent pr\u00e9sent\u00e9es en trois cat\u00e9gories.<\/p>\n

Les chikcharwa<\/em> (tib. gcig char ba<\/em>), rares pratiquants de grande capacit\u00e9, qui reconnaissent, en un instant, la nature primordiale de leur esprit lorsqu\u2019elle leur est point\u00e9e. Une fois reconnue, ils y demeurent sans effort, comme un alpiniste qui trouverait naturellement la voie la plus directe vers le sommet.<\/p>\n

Les th\u00f6galwa<\/em> (tib. thod rgal ba<\/em>) qui avancent par bonds, ou perc\u00e9es successives, plut\u00f4t que selon une trajectoire lin\u00e9aire. Leur progression est rapide, parfois spectaculaire, mais ils peuvent aussi perdre momentan\u00e9ment cette reconnaissance.<\/p>\n

Enfin, les rimgyipa<\/em> (tib. rim gyis pa<\/em>) qui suivent une progression graduelle. Ils ont besoin d’une pr\u00e9paration plus longue, d’entra\u00eenements pr\u00e9liminaires. Leur cheminement est moins spectaculaire, mais il poss\u00e8de sa propre stabilit\u00e9.<\/p>\n

La tradition rappelle toutefois que nos capacit\u00e9s pr\u00e9sentes ne r\u00e9sultent pas d\u2019une volont\u00e9 ou d\u2019une vocation, mais simplement d’une familiarit\u00e9 accumul\u00e9e au cours d’innombrables existences. Certains arrivent d\u00e9j\u00e0 acclimat\u00e9s. D’autres doivent encore apprendre \u00e0 respirer l’air de haute altitude.<\/p>\n

Au fond, peu importe la voie que nous arpentons. Lors du franchissement du pic, nous r\u00e9alisons qu\u2019il ne s\u2019agit pas d\u2019une atteinte mais que c\u2019est bien la base de toute notre r\u00e9alit\u00e9, l\u2019\u00e9vidence primordiale (tib. rig pa<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Pourtant, pour la plupart d\u2019entre nous, l\u2019exp\u00e9rience reste encore celle d\u2019un alpiniste contemplant le pic enneig\u00e9 depuis la vall\u00e9e, persuad\u00e9 que la Grande Perfection r\u00e9side dans ce lieu qu\u2019il n\u2019a pas encore atteint. Il accumule connaissance et pratique comme on plante des pitons dans la roche, esp\u00e9rant que chaque m\u00e8tre gagn\u00e9 le rapprochera du pic de l\u2019\u00e9vidence primordiale. Tant que la nature de clart\u00e9-luminosit\u00e9 de l\u2019esprit n\u2019est pas reconnue, ne fait pas partie de notre exp\u00e9rience, nous avons l\u2019impression de devoir franchir de multiples sommets.<\/p>\n

Ainsi, quelle que soit la voie que nous avons arpent\u00e9e, d\u00e8s que, dans la vision, clart\u00e9 et luminosit\u00e9 sont reconnues de mani\u00e8re stable comme la base m\u00eame de notre v\u00e9ritable nature, c\u2019est alors le chemin de la Grande Perfection, appel\u00e9 aussi le \u00ab chemin immobile \u00bb, qui se pr\u00e9sente \u00e0 nous.<\/p>\n

Tout en gardant sa verticalit\u00e9, le cheminant cesse de grimper, demeurant immobile au c\u0153ur du mouvement. Il ne regarde plus la montagne comme un objet ext\u00e9rieur \u00e0 gravir, mais reconna\u00eet que son esprit est l\u2019espace m\u00eame dans lequel la montagne appara\u00eet. Il n\u2019y a alors plus de sujet qui cherche \u00e0 atteindre un sommet nomm\u00e9 Dzogch\u00e8n.<\/p>\n

R\u00e9alisant l\u2019illusion du chemin, la montagne s\u2019effondre alors sur elle-m\u00eame, laissant place \u00e0 la pr\u00e9sence nue, imm\u00e9diate, sans direction \u00e0 suivre ni sommet \u00e0 atteindre. La Grande Perfection.\u00a0<\/p>\n
