Des id\u00e9es re\u00e7ues sur la figure du ma\u00eetre spirituel, on en \u00e9change tant dans les lieux d\u00e9di\u00e9s, parfois avec une certaine candeur, qu\u2019au caf\u00e9 du coin avec des ami\u00b7es qui n\u2019imaginent pas de s\u2019en remettre \u00e0 quelqu\u2019un d\u2019autre que soi-m\u00eame.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

En ce qui me concerne, en tant que \u00ab\u00a0bon\u00a0\u00bb cheminant des temps modernes, j\u2019oscille g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement entre deux tendances. Celle plut\u00f4t passive o\u00f9 le ma\u00eetre repr\u00e9sente un id\u00e9al de sagesse, de bienveillance et de protection infaillible, confortant l\u2019id\u00e9e de s\u2019en remettre \u00e0 une \u00ab\u00a0force\u00a0\u00bb sup\u00e9rieure. Et, \u00e0 l\u2019inverse, celle impr\u00e9gn\u00e9e de la r\u00e9cente d\u00e9sacralisation des figures d\u2019autorit\u00e9 spirituelle qui tend \u00e0 exclure toute influence ext\u00e9rieure \u00e0 sa qu\u00eate personnelle et spirituelle.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Que faire de telles tendances contradictoires lorsque l\u2019on souhaite arpenter un chemin spirituel comme le Dzogch\u00e8n sur lequel la figure du ma\u00eetre est essentielle\u00a0? Qui plus est quand les termes peu familiers de gourou<\/em> (guru<\/em>) ou de lama<\/em> sont employ\u00e9s pour le d\u00e9signer. Je l\u2019ignore\u2026 tout en \u00e9tant confiant et, c\u2019est d\u2019ailleurs ce que propose la tradition de la Grande Perfection, de l\u2019importance de questionner sans rel\u00e2che nos repr\u00e9sentations \u00e0 son sujet et de confronter nos exp\u00e9riences avec celles et ceux qui ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 parcouru le chemin\u2026<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Partant de l\u2019\u00e9tymologie du mot sanskrit gourou<\/em> qui signifie \u00ab\u00a0lourd \u00bb,<\/em> Dilgo Khyents\u00e9 Rinpoch\u00e9 rappelle que le ma\u00eetre est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme \u00e9tant \u00ab\u00a0charg\u00e9 de pr\u00e9cieuses qualit\u00e9s<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb et que \u00ab\u00a0tout comme l\u2019or est \u00e0 la fois lourd et pr\u00e9cieux\u00a0, la perfection du ma\u00eetre fait de lui un \u00eatre inestimable<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb[1]<\/a>. Le terme gourou,<\/em> qui est rest\u00e9 usuel dans la tradition du Dzogch\u00e8n, a d\u2019ailleurs \u00e9t\u00e9 traduit en tib\u00e9tain par Lama<\/em>, qui signifie \u00ab\u00a0insurpassable<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb. Mila Khy\u00e8nts\u00e9 Rinpoch\u00e9 nous pr\u00e9cisait \u00e9galement lors d\u2019un shedra<\/em> (coll\u00e8ge d\u2019\u00e9tudes) que cet aspect de pesanteur se rapporte au fait que le ma\u00eetre est \u00ab\u00a0charg\u00e9 des b\u00e9n\u00e9dictions<\/em> (de la lign\u00e9e)\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Bien que ces termes \u00e9voquent un grand respect, on nous enseigne dans la Grande Perfection que m\u00eame si de nombreux ma\u00eetres sont consid\u00e9r\u00e9s pour leurs qualit\u00e9s, la profondeur de leur enseignement et leurs r\u00e9alisations, ils ou elles ne repr\u00e9senteront pas forc\u00e9ment \u00ab\u00a0le\u00a0\u00bb ma\u00eetre sur le chemin que nous arpentons. Un ma\u00eetre n\u2019est pas le Lama<\/em> par lui-m\u00eame, il le sera en fonction des qualit\u00e9s qui pourront \u00eatre \u00ab\u00a0d\u00e9voil\u00e9es\u00a0\u00bb et, r\u00e9ciproquement, reconnues.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Cette rencontre essentielle et la relation qui en d\u00e9coulera d\u00e9pendront de multiples facteurs li\u00e9s \u00e0 nos besoins, obstacles et liens du pass\u00e9. Sans cette confluence entre la b\u00e9n\u00e9diction, v\u00e9ritable source de l\u2019activit\u00e9 du ma\u00eetre, et notre authentique aspiration \u00e0 r\u00e9aliser notre nature essentielle, aucun processus d\u2019accomplissement ne pourra se mettre en place.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Les diff\u00e9rentes dimensions du ma\u00eetre, qu\u2019il s\u2019agisse de la m\u00eame personne ou non, se r\u00e9v\u00e9leront progressivement le long du chemin, en fonction de notre degr\u00e9 d\u2019exp\u00e9rience. Cela nous permettra alors de mieux appr\u00e9hender la nature de notre relation au ma\u00eetre et les aspirations qui en d\u00e9couleront (\u00e0 ce propos, lire l\u2019article de Paul: Les qualit\u00e9s d’un disciple selon la tradition<\/a>).<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Le ma\u00eetre peut ainsi \u00eatre l\u2019enseignant qui transmet la connaissance des textes et des commentaires des ma\u00eetres du pass\u00e9. Il est parfois le guide qui permet de clarifier le chemin, de nous confronter \u00e0 nos obstacles ou de nous \u00e9tablir dans la confiance. Si les conditions sont r\u00e9unies, des instructions directes, fondamentales seront transmises. Il y a aussi le ma\u00eetre qui r\u00e9tablit la vue sur la nature primordiale (qui \u00ab\u00a0restaure les samayas\u00a0\u00bb<\/em>). Et enfin, le ma\u00eetre qui lib\u00e8re l\u2019esprit, permettant la \u00ab\u00a0rencontre dans l\u2019instant de ta nature essentielle<\/span><\/em><\/a> \u00bb et que l\u2019on nomme dans la tradition du Dzogch\u00e8n, le \u00ab\u00a0Lama<\/em> racine\u00a0\u00bb (tib. : tsawe\u0301 lama, rtsa ba\u2019i bla ma<\/em>).<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Il convient aussi de garder \u00e0 l\u2019esprit que lorsqu\u2019un ma\u00eetre enseigne la Grande Perfection, il transmet avant tout une connaissance directe sur l\u2019\u00e9tat primordial, qui a \u00e9t\u00e9 exp\u00e9riment\u00e9e et port\u00e9e par toute une lign\u00e9e de transmission<\/a>.<\/o:p><\/p>\n

Dans la perspective du Dzogch\u00e8n, le terme Lama<\/em> ne se circonscrit par ailleurs pas au ma\u00eetre humain dont on suit les enseignements. Son acception s\u2019\u00e9tend \u00e0 toute \u00ab capacit\u00e9 \u00bb \u00e0 transmettre le lien \u00e0 la Nature primordiale. Le Lama<\/em> peut donc prendre toutes les formes tant qu\u2019il permet la rencontre ou l\u2019actualisation de ce lien.<\/p>\n

Ainsi, au fur et \u00e0 mesure du chemin (qui s\u2019\u00e9tend g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement au-del\u00e0 d\u2019une vie), on va r\u00e9aliser que toutes les manifestations qui se pr\u00e9sentent \u00e0 nous, que nous exp\u00e9rimentons par nos sens, sont les reflets du Lama<\/em>, permettant \u00e0 tout instant de rencontrer sa nature essentielle.<\/p>\n

Le Gourou<\/em> peut ainsi \u00eatre, \u00e0 un moment donn\u00e9 du chemin, le lampadaire en face de chez soi que l\u2019on percute en tombant \u00e0 la renverse, nous retrouvant soudainement – au sein de sa puissante luminosit\u00e9 – \u00e0 observer notre propre nature. A cet instant pr\u00e9cis, nos tendances, limites et peurs l\u00e2chent et la confiance dans le ma\u00eetre (humain) devient simplement la confiance directe dans la nature primordiale.<\/p>\n

En favorisant et pr\u00e9servant ce lien \u00e0 notre nature essentielle, le ma\u00eetre sera alors omnipr\u00e9sent et demeurera m\u00eame lorsque tous les ph\u00e9nom\u00e8nes dispara\u00eetront, laissant place \u00e0 la lib\u00e9ration naturelle, la Grande Perfection.<\/p>\n
