Parmi les figures les plus protectrices et les plus bienveillantes du temps de No\u00ebl se trouvent le b\u0153uf et l\u2019\u00e2ne qui soufflent sur l\u2019enfant J\u00e9sus pour le r\u00e9chauffer. Ces deux figures tut\u00e9laires protectrices ont \u00e9t\u00e9 largement connues gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 un chant de No\u00ebl intitul\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0Entre le b\u0153uf et l\u2019\u00e2ne gris\u00a0\u00bb du XVI\u00e8 si\u00e8cle, h\u00e9ritier des Myst\u00e8res de la Nativit\u00e9 du Moyen \u00c2ge. Comme le dit le chant\u00a0: \u00ab\u00a0Entre le b\u0153uf et l’\u00e2ne gris, Dors<\/span>, dors, dors le petit fils\u00a0\u00bb. Ils sont souvent repr\u00e9sent\u00e9s \u00e0 droite et \u00e0 gauche de l\u2019enfan\u00e7on, le b\u0153uf \u00e9tant l\u2019occupant habituel de l\u2019\u00e9table dans laquelle la sainte famille s\u2019est abrit\u00e9e et l\u2019autre, l\u2019\u00e2ne men\u00e9 par Joseph, aurait port\u00e9 Marie enceinte de Nazareth \u00e0 Bethl\u00e9em. Ils sont donc naturellement pr\u00e9sents pour l\u2019arriv\u00e9e de J\u00e9sus qu\u2019ils accueillent et sur lequel ils veillent d\u00e8s la naissance.<\/p>\n

Cela me rappelle plein d\u2019histoires des nomades tib\u00e9tains chez qui l\u2019interaction avec les animaux domestiques est fondamentale et poss\u00e8de la m\u00eame dimension mythique que celle de l\u2019\u00e2ne et le b\u0153uf. Les Tib\u00e9tains nomades (\u2018brog pa<\/em>, prononcer \u201cdrokpa\u201d) vivent en effet en symbiose avec la faune et la flore les entourant et ils consid\u00e8rent que les animaux domestiques avec lesquels ils vivent sont des supports tr\u00e8s importants de leur force vitale<\/a> (bla srog<\/em>). Ainsi, les nouveau-n\u00e9s nomades ont un contact imm\u00e9diat avec les animaux domestiques de la famille et s\u2019endorment tr\u00e8s souvent dans la chaleur de la toison du mouton, de la ch\u00e8vre ou m\u00eame du yack. De mani\u00e8re encore plus int\u00e9ressante, on trouve dans les r\u00e9cits mythologiques un \u00e9troit rapport d\u2019existence entre l\u2019homme et l\u2019animal, o\u00f9 l\u2019animal, un mouton, un yack, une panth\u00e8re, un cheval, un tigre\u2026 est \u00ab\u00a0juch\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb sur les \u00e9paules de l\u2019humain et renforce sa force vitale. On associe en outre, comme dans beaucoup de soci\u00e9t\u00e9s traditionnelles, les qualit\u00e9s animales comme la force, la discr\u00e9tion, la ruse, etc. aux humains, dans une perspective tot\u00e9mique.<\/p>\n

Comme avec l\u2019\u00e2ne et le b\u0153uf, nous sommes en pr\u00e9sence de figures tut\u00e9laires tr\u00e8s anciennes qui ont constamment souffl\u00e9 sur les \u00e9paules des humains pour leur apporter chaleur et r\u00e9confort lors des nuits les plus froides et les plus noires. L\u2019\u00e2ne et le b\u0153uf ont rassur\u00e9 des g\u00e9n\u00e9rations de petits enfants, auxiliaires indispensables de la m\u00e8re et du p\u00e8re pour continuer l\u2019histoire de la vie.<\/p>\n

N’oublions donc pas que l\u2019\u00e2ne et le b\u0153uf, comme tous les autres animaux, sont bien plus que des \u00eatres utilitaires. Nos nuits seront alors beaucoup moins froides et moins noires.<\/p>\n
