La renne du bal<\/span><\/h2>\n

C\u2019est la fin de l\u2019ann\u00e9e une nouvelle fois. Et comme toutes les fins d\u2019ann\u00e9e, petits et grands attendent le passage du P\u00e8re No\u00ebl. Ce rejeton moderne de la figure bienveillante du saint Nicolas du Moyen \u00c2ge, ne saurait exister sans ses huit rennes. Il ne pourrait pas traverser le monde entier et faire sa tourn\u00e9e en une seule nuit ! Et pourtant, nous ne les connaissons pas tr\u00e8s bien ces auxiliaires si pr\u00e9cieux du v\u00e9n\u00e9rable vieillard le plus connu du monde.<\/p>\n

Ils apparaissent dans un tr\u00e8s vieux po\u00e8me anglais, vraisemblablement du Moyen \u00c2ge, intitul\u00e9 \u00ab Une visite de saint Nicolas \u00bb o\u00f9 l\u2019on parle d\u2019un vieil homme du Nord conduisant un tra\u00eeneau tir\u00e9 par huit rennes. L\u2019histoire nous dit qu\u2019au d\u00e9but, saint Nicolas ne se d\u00e9pla\u00e7ait qu\u2019en raquettes dans les pays du Nord de l\u2019Europe. Pourtant, son influence s\u2019\u00e9tendant, il d\u00fbt rapidement couvrir une surface bien plus importante. Il e\u00fbt alors l\u2019id\u00e9e d\u2019inviter tous les animaux du Grand Nord lors d\u2019une, f\u00eate, un bal, et tous se d\u00e9plac\u00e8rent : le loup de Sib\u00e9rie, le phoque, l\u2019ours blanc, le li\u00e8vre arctique, la sterne, l\u2019aigle, le pingouin\u2026 Sauf un : le renne qui, modeste, pensa qu\u2019il n\u2019\u00e9tait pas taill\u00e9 pour le job. Il resta donc dans sa prairie \u00e0 brouter. Il est d\u2019ailleurs n\u00e9cessaire de pr\u00e9ciser que c\u2019est UNE renne et non pas un renne, car seules les femelles gardent leurs magnifiques bois en hiver. C\u2019est pourtant elle qui fut choisie renne du bal, sans m\u00eame y \u00eatre all\u00e9e ! Saint Nicolas avait d\u00e9cel\u00e9 en elle les qualit\u00e9s qu\u2019il recherchait : humilit\u00e9, paix, puissance et majest\u00e9 cach\u00e9es. Voil\u00e0 qui lui pl\u00fbt ! Il proposa \u00e0 notre renne une association et, pour la convaincre, il lui donna le pouvoir de voler. Elle qui \u00e9tait intr\u00e9pide et qui r\u00eavait de voir le monde sauta sur l\u2019occasion.<\/p>\n

Elle ramena sept de ses cong\u00e9n\u00e8res et, depuis, chaque ann\u00e9e, elles conduisent le bon saint partout dans le monde. En 1939, une neuvi\u00e8me renne s\u2019ajouta \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9quipe : Rudolph, la renne au nez rouge, qui permet au P\u00e8re No\u00ebl (anciennement saint Nicolas) d\u2019avancer dans le brouillard.<\/p>\n
