Dans les hautes montagnes du Tibet, nich\u00e9 au c\u0153ur d\u2019une vall\u00e9e, se trouvait un tr\u00e9sor\u2026 un monast\u00e8re Dzogch\u00e8n. Le chemin pour y parvenir \u00e9tait long et difficile, dangereux m\u00eame. On dit que sur les sentiers perch\u00e9s dans le vide, beaucoup avaient perdu la vie\u2026 Pema, qui venait de la ville, \u00e9tait pourtant d\u00e9termin\u00e9 \u00e0 affronter le froid, la fatigue et le risque de croiser des animaux sauvages\u00a0: sur place, un poste de cuisinier l\u2019attendait. Pema n\u2019avait pas fait d\u2019\u00e9tudes, tout ce qu\u2019il savait, c\u2019\u00e9tait cuisiner les l\u00e9gumes, faire des kabs\u00e9s, ces fameux beignets frits, et surtout de d\u00e9licieux momos, ces raviolis tib\u00e9tains dont raffolait sa m\u00e8re. Il n\u2019avait pas de hautes ambitions, et, contrairement \u00e0 son petit fr\u00e8re qui \u00e9tait devenu moine, il n\u2019avait aucune instruction concernant la voie bouddhiste ou Dzogch\u00e8n. Alors l\u2019id\u00e9e m\u00eame d\u2019\u00eatre cuisinier dans ce monast\u00e8re, aux pieds d\u2019un grand ma\u00eetre Dzogch\u00e8n le r\u00e9jouissait.<\/p>\n

La cuisine \u00e9tait rustique et pr\u00e8s du foyer, sur les pierres servant de plan de travail, on pouvait voir, l\u2019hiver, des stalagmites se former. Pema avait les doigts gel\u00e9s. Mais il \u00e9tait heureux. Les moines et le ma\u00eetre Dzogch\u00e8n se r\u00e9galaient avec sa cuisine. Oui, Pema \u00e9tait vraiment heureux, et il se disait qu\u2019un jour, si les conditions le permettaient, il pourrait peut-\u00eatre m\u00eame assister \u00e0 des enseignements\u2026 Mais, attir\u00e9s par le pr\u00e9cieux ma\u00eetre, de plus en plus de pratiquants affluaient, et Pema devait faire de plus en plus de kabs\u00e9s et de momos pour les nourrir. Il fallait cultiver les l\u00e9gumes, aller chercher la viande loin dans les villages et toujours trouver des astuces pour cuisiner en plus grande quantit\u00e9. Pema n\u2019avait vraiment plus de temps. Il entrapercevait juste parfois le ma\u00eetre qui s\u2019arr\u00eatait devant la fen\u00eatre de sa cuisine et qui, les yeux malicieux, lui souriait tout en pointant son doigt droit sur son c\u0153ur. Un jour, Pema, qui \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s vieux, ressentit une tr\u00e8s grande fatigue. Il sentait que la mort \u00e9tait proche et il se dit qu\u2019il \u00e9tait temps de demander un enseignement au ma\u00eetre avant de mourir. Alors il se rendit \u00e0 la porte de la grande salle du temple\u2026 mais une c\u00e9r\u00e9monie \u00e9tait en cours et Pema n\u2019osa pas le d\u00e9ranger. Il nettoya alors une derni\u00e8re fois sa cuisine, pour qu\u2019elle soit bien propre, plia la paillasse qui lui servait de lit, et alla marcher un peu dans le sentier qu\u2019il aimait tant et qui surplombait le monast\u00e8re, puis, sentant les forces le quitter, il s\u2019allongea au bord du chemin. L\u00e0, doucement, il expira son dernier souffle\u2026 et il disparut.

Le corps d\u2019arc-en-ciel est la plus haute r\u00e9alisation qui soit dans le Dzogchen. Et Pema l\u2019avait atteinte\u00a0!… Personne n\u2019avait jamais vraiment fait attention \u00e0 lui. Pema n\u2019avait jamais assist\u00e9 \u00e0 un enseignement. Il ne s\u2019\u00e9tait jamais assis parmi les moines. Mais il avait eu une instruction unique, et l\u2019avait appliqu\u00e9e \u00e0 chaque instant de sa vie, sans rel\u00e2che. Il l\u2019avait pratiqu\u00e9e, toute sa vie, en l\u2019int\u00e9grant parfaitement dans son activit\u00e9 du quotidien, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 son dernier souffle.

Alags Ch\u00f6rten \u00e9tait un grand ma\u00eetre Dzogch\u00e8n et il a v\u00e9cu humblement toute sa vie. Pour lui, mourir comme un vieux chien, signifiait que puisque toute la vie a \u00e9t\u00e9 v\u00e9cue, au c\u0153ur, avec la vue sur la nature de l\u2019esprit, au moment de la mort c\u2019est pareil : rien ne se passe de diff\u00e9rent. Comme un vieux chien, on se pose naturellement au bord du chemin et c\u2019est le moment de la mort. Alags Ch\u00f6rten s\u2019est pos\u00e9 un matin d\u2019automne. Comme il l\u2019avait annonc\u00e9, il est parti comme un vieux chien\u2026 Et alors que pour lui, rien ne se passait, au m\u00eame moment, une pluie de b\u00e9n\u00e9dictions est tomb\u00e9e sur les \u00eatres.<\/p>\n
